Ended up on the -300er coming back from Japan in October. Typhoon had cancelled flights the day before, so they swapped this out for the smaller -200er. 1st seat behind the bulkhead, some extra space for footwell. I personally didn't find any issues with Galley or Lavatory noise during the flight. Crew were very polite, addressed me by name, even when I switched seats with another passenger to seat with my buddy. Food was solid, IFE was solid. WIFI was slow and not super reliable, but 20 bucks for the whole flight to stay in touch with the wife and kid was wirth it.

1D is obviously a great seat since it’s in the first class cabin. However, if you’re lucky enough to be in first, you might prefer a seat OTHER than 1D or 1G. Both of these seats are forward of the others and thus very close to the galley and lavatories (least privacy / peace and quiet in first). Also, there’s no dedicated overhead bin for 1D or 1G, so you’ll have to find a space somewhere else. Still a great seat overall, of course. But if you have a choice, you might want to pick a different one for a long flight.

Note that Rows 20 and 33 directly face divider walls. While this seems like a choice seat (since there's a little extra legroom and no one in front of you), these seats are often chosen by families with small babies since the divider wall allows a baby bassinet hookup. Beware choosing these seats or those nearby in case of screaming infants.

I didn't want a middle seat in a four (being on my own), but the front row of PE is pretty good - room to get out without disturbing the neighbour, and a foot rest, meaning the seat is a decent "cradle" to sleep. Service was also good - it was a relatively short night flight, and they got the food out fast, leaving a decent amount of time to sleep. AA is way better than BA for transatlantic, in my opinion

This 14 hour night flight from LAX to Hong Kong was one of the worst flights of my life. And I have >900,000 just with American.The seat was so narrow that both of my hip bones have bruises and no am not a big guy. Area in front zumba/yoga/stretch area all night long. I will never fly a 777 again. I fully expect the next flight to stack passengers horizontally and spray with olive oil.

Got upgraded to this while having purchased the lowest fare class (X). This seat is by far the best on AA coach, even better than the one opposite FA's on AA's A321 (if you fly with them long enough you know). Ample legroom even with the bulkhead in front! Surprising! Would fly again.

18A and 18L are the best sleeping seats in PE. No one behind you to pull on the seat in the middle of the night (there's a divider to Main Cabin), and no one to climb over you when you're sleeping.

Premium Economy set 16C is very comfortable. Lots of leg room and has a foot rest. Downside is you are sup post to get a warm towel and warm nuts on takeoff but cot a tiny bag of pretzels

The seat map is a bit misleading because 4A is set further back (i.e. towards the rear) vis-a-vis 4D (whereas the seat map seems to show they are next to each other). Although that means 4A is in reality even closer to the lavatory and the galley, they are still a sufficient distance away so as not to become a nuisance. I slept very well throughout the flight. I find the mini-cabin (rows 3 and 4) to be better than the larger cabin. Although 3A would be better than 4A, I don't think 4A is any worse than 6A or 7A, for example. In other words, I wouldn't place 4A in the "yellow" category.

The narrowest seats I've ever seen in an intercontinental flight. I am not so big (42" waist) and had to ask for a seat belt extension. PS: The conection flights (Airbus 321) were a lot more confortable - and I had at least 10" to "spare" on the seat belts!

Very narrow seat. I'm 1.83m tall and legroom is extremely reduced to me. In case I decide to store my pillow in the seat pocket, well I would be stuck there. Another problem I always have with American is the seat width. I know I have large shoulders, fine, but in case I get a same size person (as It happened), we could barely fit. I strongly recommend to get an aisle, or main cabin extra.

First time on the 777-300ER and enjoyed the Premium Economy offering. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service on board and was able to get comfortable and enjoy the ride. The only disappointment was the inflight entertainment system, it does not have anywhere near the volume of programming previously available.

Main cabin extra seat and the extra room was noticeable. Restricted recline, same as all their seats. Padding was thin and relatively uncomfortable. The one quirky thing was the seat is slightly offset from the tray table, so you have to slightly angle yourself to use the tray. Still I would take this seat in a minute over regular coach. Also, I noticed that in the row ahead, 31 there was tons of legroom, but people were queued up for the lavs for a significant portion of the flight and some stood directly in front of those seats.

The exit door does reduce some of the space, but the trick is to put your roller board case down in front of you after take off. If you are travelling with someone, you can put it down horizontally (wheels facing the door) and both can use as footrest). This allows you to prop your feet up as a foot rest but more importantly, it keeps people from congregating in front of you so it is the best way to maximize space. The tray table is a bit low so when you are eating you must be careful about moving. The light from the bathroom is opposite so every time some one goes in or out it will shine in your face. On the 777-200 the bathroom was on the same side so light would not be a bother. All and all 31a and 31j are the only seats I fly on this plane in economy.

Coach on AA is a miserable experience, though seat 31A provides a little relief in the way of unlimited legroom. The exit slide on the emergency door bulges out into the space, but there is still plenty of legroom, and (unless the FA gripes at you) can use it as a "footstool" to put your feet up. The proximity to the galley and lav is somewhat annoying, but didn't cause any major issues. No window, though the window in 32A is easy to look through over you left shoulder. Still not a fun experience, but I guess it was worth the additional $ for the extra legroom.

Flew from LHR to Dallas in basic economy. If American Airlines could have got these seats any closer/tighter in basic economy they might as well have had you standing up. No leg room whatsoever, no width, crammed in. Most miserable 9 hours flight I have ever taken. I guess you get what you pay for! Upgrade or fly in an Airbus, much more comfortable.

Came back via DFW--16E--exit row but in the four abreast section. I had horrors of this seat, but it wasn't bad--more leg room than I would ever use..easy egress and ingress. Crew much more friendly and very pleasant, proactive and service-oriented. The other rows had more legroom but seemed rather cramped, still. People had to climb over others, so not sure I would do those rows

I flew from DFW to LHR in seat 20C and back in 20D. While there is a bulkhead in front on row 20, this bulkhead does not extend all the way to the floor, it stops about 6 inches above the floor. There is therefore plenty of room to stretch your legs underneath the bulkhead and even store carry on items. It was one of the best coach seats I have ever had for a transatlantic crossing.

LHN to DFW, 10/8/18. For as many times as I have flown AA, this was one of the most enjoyable and comfortable flights I have ever experienced. My seat was very comfortable with plenty of room and plenty of seat position options. Very comfortable seat. No issues at all with noise or light from galley or lavatory. In fact the proximity is actually a convenience. Lav on A/D is normal size - the lav on G/J size is large. As someone mentioned, there is a constant swoosh of airflow from the AC system overhead.

I flew to HKG round trip in the new Premium Economy seat 18L as a solo traveler. Going to HKG on a red eye, the PE cabin was only 1/4 full so 18J was empty, making it a comfortable flight. Passengers in front of me had their seats on full recline for the entire 15 hour flight and the gentleman next to me refused to stand up out of his seat when I had to get up, instead insisting on merely tucking his legs in (!?) to let me pass. THIS WAS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE and highly uncomfortable to do. If you are a solo traveler - do not sit in 18L - sit in 18J. I wanted a window seat but 18J is just as good - as it's over the wing anyway (not much to see) AND the left arm rest goes completely down so you can get more comfortable with your legs if you're trying to sleep.

JFK-LHR. This is a great seat. Comfortable, lots of storage, with first class cordoned off it's also quiet. Pre-ordered my meal (delish, but I'm weird, I like airplane food), watched a movie, and went to sleep for several hours. Only down side- unlike first class, no pajamas. We rode on a BA 747 on the way back home- this seat is far superior.

This was a very comfortable seat. Good recline, and I loved the large IFE screen. Only negative is that it's a bit difficult to reach the headphone jack (at the back of the armrest tray table). As someone who rarely travels in First or Business, this is a nice compromise for me on a simple trans-Atlantic trip. The 2-4-2 config and foot rest "pedals" alone make it worth the modest seat upgrade fee. I'll do this again in a heartbeat.

Flew from Sao Paulo to Dallas. As others have said, the economy seats are very tight. I am only 5'6" but felt squeezed in despite having an aisle seat. The gentleman next to me in 26E bumped into me a few times while trying to get comfortable. The IFE system was good, and the bathrooms were clean and spacious. Overall, an uncomfortable flight and slept very little.

My 777 300 was the latest configuration with Premium Economy seating, currently sold as Coach. Whilst not a Premium Cabin as you cannot lie down, it does represent a substantial improvement over the rest of the coach cabin. I found the seat very comfortable, reminiscent of domestic first class, the IFE was very good and I was not troubled at all by the closeness of the Bathrooms. The leg room in this row has always been superb.

21L: BE FOREWARNED: At least for me and the gentleman next to me, we were duped (by the AA seat map of this plane) into thinking that this row and the opposite side (21A/B) were only two across. We both payed extra for this in thinking so. Now this might be a case where they were switching equipment for the flight, but the SeatGuru seat map IS accurate where the AA site (at least at the time of booking -- and right up to the day of flight) was NOT. In our case the tall guy beside me (thinking he was in an aisle seat but ended up in a middle) rightly complained to the Flight Attendant before we took off, I also complained to re-enforce his grief as well as mine -- again, we both payed 150 to 200 extra for what amounted to standard economy seats whose only real benefit was that they were a little closer to the front of the economy section. In our case, we were taken care of: They guy to my left was re-seated to main cabin extra, and I got what I wanted: a row with only two people sitting in it. You may not be as fortunate! You've been warned.

I've flown 9D and 13D on this plane. Specific to this seat, 1). I think the business class seats half-way back are the best because they're far enough away from the galleys/lavs and receive less light as a result. 2) The center seats are in some ways less private but really, they way they're configured, you cannot see the person next to you unless you lean way forward. In general: This business class configuration is ideal and I really can't see the benefit of First Class over this. I like that the 777s give you an additional air control if you want it, I like a lille air circulation when I sleep. The service is perfect and I love this herring bone model where one never has to bother another passenger to get up. There is a decent feeling of privacy. As others have said you may be more comfortable sleeping if you flatten the seat all the way, then raise it ever so lightly to get the bump out of it. I fly from LAX to HK and back two times a year and for my money, this seat is exactly what I need to be able to hit the ground running.

Business class seat 3D, front mini cabin. Love the 777300ER business seats, I chose 3D thinking it would be more intimate, quieter. It wasn't what I expected. The noise from the air vent was quite loud for much of the flight and blew right on this seat. Also, the FAs were slamming doors in the galley for hours. Also, when I got up during the flight, all the FAs were gathered in the area of the galley, laughing and talking. I will choose a seat back in the middle as before. Service was fine and attentive but the added noise of the galley made for a restless night.

Great seat for couples but also single flyers. Being right behind the row of three seat means extra space and nobody comes close to bumping you walking back and forth. There is a small gap between the window and 41L but it's not that large and acted as more storage. Leg room seems more than other rows due to angle of plane. These are the best economy seats, only downside is they run out of food options but the FA's were thoughtful and offered us the second meal options first.

In the middle section, there are 3 places for 4 people to stow items under the seat in front of them. In EF and G seats you have to straddle the support of the seats in front of you and share a leg space with your fellow passenger. Not ideal!

This plane is now configured for Premium Economy in Rows 16-18. Seating reminiscent of Domestic First Class. I do not buy Premium Economy as it is just a race to the bottom by the likes of Virgin and BA. For me it is Coach for low cost or Business/First if I need to sleep. That said it was another excellent product from American and at regular Coach price it was a good deal. Food was usual airline coach class fare but I carry my own as a Vegetarian. With the usual personal items I fly with this was perfectly acceptable for a working flight of 11 hours. I arrived feeling great. 16,000 miles in five days and no ill effects. Why I fly AA TATL.

In Feb 2017, we flew with this plane to MIA from LHR. We had the middle 4 -seats (me + wife + 13 y + 7 y) Plane was really full, all seats taken. I'am 6"1 tall and it took a bit organizing to sit on the seat but it can be done. A bit tight but what can you expect from economy class? Service was ok,normal food and soda, kids were served really well by staff (which is not the case always). I was not able to sleep in this seat but fortunately there was movies etc in the media system.

Very happy with the small cabin, felt like personalized service. Frist class has a partition and the bathroom and galley separates the other business class so you truly felt like your own cabin with 7 other people. I had no issues with the bathroom being close. I heard noise from the galley only during meal service and only from one FA who wanted to slam doors. The bed isn't the most comfortable (a little tight) but I was able to sleep a whole 5 hours which is a miracle for me. Food was much better than my 767 flight a few days earlier and the bathroom was larger, still nothing to be excited for.

The proximity to the lavatories pretty much negates the huge legroom benefits. I had this seat overnight from Buenos Aires to Miami, and the light and noise from everyone going in and out of the rest room kept me up all night. Lines and queues formed in my personal space. The seat is also very narrow, and the armrest tray table is about the size of a postage stamp. It felt like a tight squeeze, which was unfortunate for an exit row seat. I wouldn't sit here again.

Word of caution- great legroom but this seat does not recline. The space in front of the seat is the defacto queue for the restroom so people are hovering in front of your seat pretty much all night and were a much bigger issue than the light. Finally decided leave my entertainment unit up as a visual block to people. Pros-legroom. Cons-thin & narrow seat, no recline, bumped almost entire flight by passengers waiting for bathroom. Still better the nonMCE but would not choose this seat ahain unless nothung else available.

We flew 11 hours on this flight LHR-LAX. Was so impressed with American! I felt like I was on British Airlines 777 in first class minus the $500 taxes. Very private comfortable and exceptional service. So happy we chose seats 4D/G despite the negative commnts. Its further away from the huge row of other business seats. You feel like your part of first class. The noise was from the plane itself not from lavatory or galley. With the Bose noise cancelling headphones they provide you, I dont know how you can complain. Food was not as great as British but again I only paid $50 in taxes versus $500 so no big deal. Cant wait to fly this plane again!

Loved the upgrade to business, we were the last upgrade on this flight; the pods are the only way to travel even on a 7 hour flight JFK-LHR; with all the positives, the negatives are as discussed previously proximity to lavs (noise and lights) were problematic and certainly not a seat you want to choose, if you have the opportunity dont sit here, unless its the only upgrade seats, then take them. My seat in First Class was nowhere near as nice as most airlines. This was not a pod or enclosed suite and did not have a closing wall like a few of AA flights do. I was extremely disappointed in the comfort of the seat considering this was first class. The "bedpad" was nothing more than a thin mattress pad that provided no comfort at all and the seat adjust buttons never truly worked easily. They would always get stuck and you would need to keep pressing. The food was the most offensive issue and was some of the worst I have ever experienced on a long haul first class flight. Dried out chicken, small servings, microwave TV dinner style sliders were horrible. Even the flight attendant commented how embarrassed she was with the food. American really needs to step up their service for First Class but from what I am hearing it will all be eliminated soon to only a two class airline. Business and Coach.

Tremendous seat, unbelievable service, and fantastic privacy for a biz class seat. One comment - there's a hump in the seat when fully flat. Crank up the seat a small bit and it goes away. I found no issues with the proximity of the head near the aisle. The bulkhead between your head and the aisle maintains the privacy and quiet I needed to get a good night's rest. There are two overhead vents which allowed you to control your seat temp which is huge. LOVED this seat.

LAX-LHR in 15G was fantastic. Business class on this airframe is phenomenal and super private. Im 6'5" and was able to sleep about 5 hours straight after dinner. This particular seat is the last row in Biz class which puts you right next to the lav but honestly it was very lightly used throughout the flight so I had no issues with foot traffic. I actually found it handy being just 2 steps away from the bathroom. Bose headsets worked like a charm as did IFE. Nothing bad to say about this. Anyone who complains about business class on this airplane should probably just buy a private jet because youre not going to find anything much better than this short of your own plane.

We sat in 16 D,E,H on the way out we did not have the problem of people walking in front that some mentioned other than at boarding but noticed that others did on the return. There was good space and the recline was excellent, staff were fantastic I liked the food but the rest of my family did not. The toilets did not bother us but the TV that is in the arm does not work until after the seatbelt sign is taken off where as all others are gate to gate, the tray was half the size of a normal tray which did prove slightly difficult. All in all its better than a standard economy seat and its good not having a seat recline in front of you but its not without disadvantages as well.

Legroom was great as there was no mediabox on the floor. I could almost stretch entirely. As for the seat itself, it was horrible. I'm 6 foot 4 and the seat was way too low. To put my head against the headrest I had had to tilt my head 90 degrees, which makes it impossible to sleep. IFE was great although it is a bit unresponsive and slow. No trouble with the near lavatories, as there is only one and is mostly used by people in the back of the plane.

While this is a great seat in the forward mini-business class cabin, there are two things to point out. FA's use this seat for storage...there's a closet on the bulkhead so don't be surprised to see an FA there during the flight. Also, there is a screen above this seat that displays the moving map. While not completely bothersome, the light from the TV may be annoying when all the lights are turned down.

Only set back is that by angling the feet towards the window your head is in the aisle when sleeping. This can make for interrupted sleep if a lot of people are walking to the bathroom or gallery. The First Class seat was spacious and had enough room so that I could lie flat, even being over 6 feet tall. The amenities offered were helpful, and plentiful, comprising all the standards - ear plugsm moisturizer, etc, but also came with a large enough tube of toothpaste that I got more than one quick brush at the end of the flight. Unlike many first class cabins -particularly Airbus - this seat had air vents that allowed you to control if you wanted to have some air blowing on you. This seems a minor thing, but it is a great convenience as opposed to being at the mercy of the overall cabin temperature controls. For what was nearly an 18 hour flight (and more than 18 hours when time on the ground was included), this was a very comfortable seat with plenty of entertainment options, and power sources for devices you brought with you.

We were upgraded to seats 15 D & G southbound and 10 D & G northbound. These 'pods' are by far the best business class seat that I have ever used, bar none. The inflight service was outstanding and I cannot think of anything else that could be added that would make this a better flight. But, I do have some comments: 1. At seat 15D, when anyone from business class opens the business class toilet, or when anyone from coach opens the coach toilet, the light shines directly on seat 15D. Very annoying. 2. On our southbound flight there were two infants and one toddler in the business class section about three rows ahead of us, all in the same row. This is madness. The ladies caring for these children were up and down all night, and I have no quarrel with them, except for the fact that they kept standing ON THE SEATS and climbing over the partitions between seats. Why the flight attendants permitted this I will never understand. I also do not understand why American would permit crying, screaming and running infants and toddlers in this section. Had I paid the full price of over $6,000.00 for this seat I would have been seriously upset. These babies belong in the coach section, where a bassinet or some other sort of crib can be set up for them. Please American, do what Singapore Airlines did and do not permit children under the age of 16 or 18 in the business class section.

Being 5' 10" & 260lbs, the tapering of the aircraft helps have a bit of extra room on the side, was able to fit my backpack and drinks easily. Legs are jammed up against the seat ahead of you if 5'10 or above, had no MCE's available (free as platinum) or wouldve never touched it. Would fly seat again if no better choices were available. 2 across beats any of the 3-4-3. Also 3J is pretty decent, just missing a window. 2A was good but not worth the extra over business class when business class is so great to begin with. Have flown DFW-LHR, DFW to LAX, LAX to LHR

GRU (Sao Paulo/Brazil) -> MIA (Miami/FL). Overnight flight. I absolutelly second the comments already posted. You will get people bumping during all the flight. Flight attendants with carts, passengers going to lavatories and passengers "having a walk". Also it's close to the screens with the flight map/progress display which are very bright and disturb the eyes. The only good thing is the leg room, but even that is "challenged" during the flight by people passing. If you want to sleep is not a good choice unless you are a very deep sleeper. Perhaps for a flight during the day, when you will be awake and seeing movies it will be ok. Of course time by time you will have to adjust the movie screen because of... guess what? Bumping from passengers.

33J is sold as an exit row seat because there is no seat in front of it. However, your shoulder and entertainment screen do get almost constantly bumped by people passing by. The legroom is fine and it is easy to get up and stretch your legs etc but as an exit row option, this is to be avoided if others are available.

No more angle lie flats, having the middle person hop over you, etc., etc. Bottom line, you get a pod like setup with plenty of privacy. I will be taking my 5th flight in this business class configuration and am soooo excited as I can finally get some sleep. Pros - LOTS of personal space/desk space. Enough Privacy to get some sleep. Nice NEWER plane layout with seats that fully lie flat. Negative - Getting up and down requires a little twisting if you leave your seat flat. Also, with the way the seat extends/lies down into the pod, you can pick up some 'smells' from the person behind you. Unfortunately my last flight the person behind me had an upset tummy and made my sleeping experience less than desirable as it was easily smelled. Overall, GREAT configuration, and MUCH better than the recent BA World Traveller I sat in and paid more $$ for.

One important thing to know is that if you are planning to sit across the aisle from your travel partner, the row numbers don't match up; 16 A-C are actually across from row 17, 17 from 18 and 18 from 19. The seating picture is inaccurate as the row 16 middle seats are in front of the row 16 side seats and 19 matches up with 18. I didn't notice any people cutting in front of the row 16 pax during the flight and only 2 people before the flight took off.

In the private little 2-row business cabin, this seat is very secluded. As other wrote, the air vents above are loud and it's very close to the galley. During meal prep it was quite loud, with lots of slamming doors and cabinets. But it was serenely quiet at other times and no one walked by. At 6'1", I had plenty of room to stretch out. Only downside is that JFK-LHR is such a short flight there's little time for sleep. Meal service was quick, though, so 90 mins in and I was snoozing.

Being 6ft3/1.90m I found these seat to be cramped. I am not overweight and fit exactly in these seats. I could only just fit one finger between my knees and the seat in front of me. The passenger next to me had a big bum which meant it overlapped my seat. The lack of space means you can't stretch your legs under the seat in front of you because you can't make the angle. Aisle seat doesn't help either the armrest are low and protruding into you upper leg. It is not possible to get your legs under the armrest. Aisle armrests are fixed and therefore a barrier preventing passengers putting their legs in the aisle. Aisles are narrow and cabin crew constantly bump into passengers and chairs. Main cabin extra gives you the minimum needed for comfortable travel on international flights. Poor experience with AA. In fact not recommended and never again.

Travelled LHR-DFW and DFW-LHR in 16A. Although the comments regarding cold door and the door encroaching on the seat are accurate, the secluded nature of the seat and the huge amount of leg room (allowing you to stand up and stretch your legs in your own area is a great bonus. Table is small, but happily used my 13" MBP without any issues, I'm a large guy and didn't find the seat width an issue. The cubby where the window is, is a brilliant idea and I was happy to forgo a window for this. I enjoyed this seat so much I rebooked it on my return. Managed to sleep the whole flight home, so that says something. Something to note about 16D 16E 16H is that I noticed cabin crew regularly using it to cross between alises - this is because there is no galley at this bulkhead. I'd have complained if I were sat in those seats.

For long hauls and even cross-continent, this is a great seat. It is not an enclosed suite, but very close. Plenty of storage around the seating area, multiple functions for the seat, and three windows, well 2.5. The seat/bed is not as comfortable as some others I have used on other airlines, but it is roomy enough for my 6'7" frame. Sleeping was a breeze. No noise from anywhere else, and honestly 1A and the front looked and sounded fine to me.

I flew from Dallas to London and paid a little bit more to sit in 33C. It was great for the legroom but that is it. The walkway narrows at this point and everyone bumped in to me, including the flight attendants. This seat should be extra money since it is such a hassle. The toilets weren't too close so there weren't many people lingering in front of me.

33C and 33J are the seat from hell. Although you have legroom with no seat in front, the seat "sticks out" in the aisle so you will be bumped by carts, flight attendants and passengers for the entire flight.

Standard econmony seat--two observations: 1. The internal seating overhead bins are too short for carry on bags to fit in wheels down--and i have the small international size, i had to put it in sideways which greatly reduces capacity. Bins over the outer seating were standard depth and abke to accomodate wheels down. 2. On the seats with 4--the support bars under the seat are misaligned. I was on the aisle, with a metal bar 1/3 of the way from the aisle. There was not room to stretch out my leg under the seat without encroaching on the aisle. Even more odd, was the shared bar bewteen the seats, so if someone had been in my left, their right leg and my left leg would have shared the floor space. You're close enough on a plane without playing footsies. Luckily the seat was unoccopied.

I had a SWU come thru at the last possible second and had this seat LHR-LAX. It was very very private (when your seat is reclined, you don't see anyone at all) and the lie-flat seat + lightweight duvet was heaven. I actually slept for about 2 hours. The proximity to the lavatory is, in fact, annoying -- you hear it every time it flushes. But, the entry to that lavatory is, technically, on the Biz side of the curtain, so it wasn't used that often. There was room for bag storage on top of the seat and since it abutted the lavatory, I didn't worry about my bag falling down in flight. Other than the occasional toilet flush, this seat is very quiet and secluded.

I actually really liked this seat for my flight to LHR from DFW. Though the seat is slightly thinner and has the fixed armrest and swing-up TV, the leg room was excellent and lack of having someone reclining their seat into your space was a real plus. I fly quite a bit and have flown this plane several times. I'm only 5'9" and when I recline me knees are pressed against the seat in front of me. Can hardly move. One of the worst seating arrangements I have flown. Not acceptable, especially for long flights.

I agree with a previous comment on the AA economy service from DFW-LHR it is without a doubt the most uncomfortable seating I have ever experienced and I fly a lot! AA should not only be embarrassed but also fined for making passengers endure such seating. The seats are extremely narrow, to the point where all three of us seating in the section by the window had to sit the whole journey with our arms folded, squashed up like sardines. I am 5'11" and my legs were in constant pain from being wedged up against the seat in front. Another problem with this AA aircraft configuration is the very small overhead luggage bins. TOO small, or enforce the carry on size and number of bag limit; just an awful experience. We will NOT be using this airplane or airline again. Shame as I am a platinum executive with AA by will not suffer seating like that ever again! Find another airline!!

Do not choose this seat if you like window seats. I paid $75 for this and it's 9" from the window which means only a giant and lean on the window or side of the plane. Miserable. Pick a row of 3 instead. Those are just a couple inches from the window and you can lean and sleep.

NIGHTMARE! A flight from Dallas to London/Heathrow of 8 hours and 55 minutes was 8 hours and 50 minutes TOO LONG! Shame on AA for expecting passengers to siit in seats that are too narrow, with awful, limited legroom, and narrow arm rests fhat allow no space between passengers. I was uncomfortable at only 5'2", average weight so imagine my husband...he is 6'4". BRUTAL SEATING! We have been forced to purchase extra cost seating for our return trip or suffer the aches and pains again. These aircraft seats are meant for children....little children!

LAX-HKG. I agree with other comments on 2A that this is a nice commodious space (love being able to turn the chair 90 degrees to a work desk!) and (with the recent cuisine upgrade across AA) the food was nicely prepared. For example, pasta was actually nearly as well done as in a good restaurant and innovative. Compared to BA and Virgin Atlantic, AA still needs to "get it" about privacy (can't they install a curtain or something?); and it's not a dramatic step-up from their excellent B-class product (especially in the minicabin). B on this plane seems identical to F on their US transcon. Also I spent a lot of time researching the selection (thank you SeatGuru readers!)- not sure I'd want anything in Row 1 (light, FA conversations). Service was very very good.

I am normally loathe to fly AA, but due to my travel to Sao Paulo, Brazil I had no other option. Traveling solo and paying a full fare Economy ticket, I changed my seat to 18D from JFK - GRU and on return. I made an excellent choice. Extremely comfortable, lots of legroom (I'm 5'7" - but whatever), excellent in-flight entertainment options with easy access to the lavatory ahead of Row 16. BTW, the port/starboard lavatories are for Business Class, but the middle lavatories are Extra Main Cabin. I was fortunate to have a nice young lady in the middle seat who bundled up and slept the entire flight to GRU. On my way back from GRU to JFK, a delightful older Brazilian couple sat in 18E and 18H. Just as good as Business Class. I'd fly AA again and sit in 18D.

This was my first flight on AA's 777-300ER in Business Class (ORD-LHR). We were seated in seats 3D and 3G). Most comments on this Aircraft were positive and I agree that this is the perfect configuration for the solo business traveler. However, I travel constantly with my wife and this is the first time in 30+ years of travel that we've been unable to communicate while seated together. We were separated by a seat divider which allowed conversation only by sitting on the edge of our seats and leaning way forward. This is NOT the airplane for newlyweds or people in love. Comfort, service and food were above average.

Light from the galley is only a small part of the problem with this seat. The real issue is the noise from the flight attendants as they work their service or chat among themselves. There is also a closet close to the seat that they seem to open and close constantly. For me the constant movement is also a visual distraction as you try to watch TV. There is always some movement in the corner of your view

31J is especially nice for legroom. Im 6'5" and will sacrifice almost anything for leg room. Try table is so small it's almost useless. Prox to toilet is annoyance. My wife was in 31L which has the emergency door housing that protudes a bit into your space. Seats are narrower than the old 777-200 2-5-2 config. I will always try to get these seats in future.

Not as bad a some comments make out. I was worried the toilets are too close, but there is a screen pulled diagonally between them limiting access to one only from the rear, all the other toilets behind mean that this is only lightly used. The benefit of the endless legroom outweighs any problems. 16DEH seemed to enjoy it less, they are much closer then the picture makes out and don't allow full stretch, and get people crossing a lot. A/L isn't really as limited as people imply, and the passenger from J moved themselves to L to sleep. LHR-LAX.

Flew as a couple (JFK - LHR) and always happy to pay a bit extra for two on their own if MCE not an option however there were a few issues: 43A felt cramped as fuselage tapers in, I'm assuming it was a normal width economy seat but felt narrower. 43C was fine. Toilet proximity wasn't an issue. Screen, although good, does not tilt, an issue when person in front reclines. In-ear style freebie earphones are worse than traditional over-ear offerings. IFE selection did not change from August to September, nor did the website accurately reflect the selection (still said July).

Chose this seat due to what appeared to be extra elbow room as the block accross the aisle goes from 3 to 2 accross. Really glad I did, the room in front seems quite restricted so it looked possible to be bothered by passing passengers and trolleys. Leg room fine, IFE good, food awful. Flew from LHR-MIA. Excellent leg room and a small private overhead bin is above this seat. The back doesn't protrude into the aisle, as 18C does so you're not going to be bumped by the food cart. There is also storage space under your seat due to the bulkhead right behind you. Toilet at the front of the cabin is not used as frequently by coach passengers. Two caveats: There is an AC vent above you and I was very cold despite a jacket and blanket. A baby bassinette was attached to the bulkhead in coach--luckily I had the worlds quietest baby on my flight. Because of the air vent I would probably pick row 17 or 18 D/F

This seat offered isle access with no one behind you. It has full recline. At 5'-10" I found it provided plenty of leg room even when seat in front was reclined. Center arm also lifts. Had no trouble with the angle of the media screen. It lacks the foot reset of premium economy class seating but it was surprisingly comfortable for a 9 hour flight. Definitely worth the additional cost.

New business class is much better than BA, screens are large, great selection of movies, etc, USB and power ports close by, lots of spaces to store stuff, and noise cancelling headphones included if you don't want to carry your own. Months before booking this business class seat I was on SeatGuru checking comments. I switched my seat back and forth a few times based on conflicting comments between being in the "mini cabin" (where 3J is located) and the main business cabin. On both my flights LAX-LHR-LAX I chose 3J and I'm glad I did. Quiet and private. You have only one window (no problem for me) and yes, there is a loud fan noise(also didn't bother me). I liked the seclusion from the larger business class cabin. Loved the push button seat movement, you could lie flat, sit up, and just about everything in between. Service okay, food okay, but for me, space and comfort is the key on a 10+ hour flight, and American delivered on that. Oh and a nice feature; dozens and dozens of movies to choose from and snacks set up for you between meal services. As others have said, the lavatory behind this row of seats is close, roomy, nicely designed.

We sat in 3d and g from lax to syd. the seats fully recline in your own little cubicle. Didn't see a big difference between business and first. this little section is very private, plenty of room for storing personal items. A little noisy as close to the galley , so on the way back we chose business seats further back. All the same cubicles just more people around you. Slept well on both flights, so we were not exhausted upon arrival.

I flew 2G LAX-SYD and 1D SYD-LAX, and I highly recommend 2G over 1D. As others have said, no overhead space at 1D. Also, so much light comes in due to the seat location close to the galley and the pilots bunks. Lots and lots going on at all times, which makes it very hard to rest. The first class service is excellent, and the amount of space in the cabin is incredible. However the light pollution makes it very hard to sleep in the first row. Would be great if AA could add curtains to block out noise/light.

American finally got it right on this plane's business class seats. Private but with the ability of closing the doors on the small cupboards between the seats if you are flying with a companion. Lie flat beds are great improvement on the angle flats on the 777. Nice lighting. TV screens are big and entertainment system worked well. Pajamas in business class were very appreciated. Food from LAX to SYD just ok but SYD to LAX much better. Flight attendants did a very professional job both ways.

We were in BusinessClass Row, the 2 middle seat pods. We thought this was an exceptional Business Class ride. The seats reclined in many positions, the electronics were easy to use and worked exceptionally well. The food was pretty good although we've had better on other flights. The beds go flat and are private - the seat/bed is a little hard - not too cushiony. We would definitely fly this plane again. I peeked back into economy and those seats actually looked pretty good. Service was exceptionally nice.

Flew LAX to SYD recently and the business class product on this 777-300 ER was, in my opinion, excellent. The minor issues about the seat not being as wide as it could have been or being a bit firm were far outweighed by the way the seat is positioned and all the appropriate technology and amenities. The large screen IFE system performed flawlessly (although I did start off by trying to connect the supplied Bose headsets into a three port Audio Visual plugin which is visible on the side of the seat rather than the correct three-port headphone jack which is hidden in the small cupboard where the headphones and complimentary water are stored! - I wish they wouldn't use these proprietary plugs but the supplied headphones are excellent quality). The flight attendant service was professional and courteous throughout. The bathroom on the starboard side of the business class section (just ahead of seat 5J) is larger than normal and better appointed than a coach restroom. I will seek to fly this airline/aircraft combination again as it was a great experience...

Flew first class seat 1A on flight from Sydney to Los Angeles. Wonderful seat with 3 windows, privacy (no one in front of you) and lots of legroom. Compared to the same plane's business class product, it's roomier with more options for your legs and feet. Also feels a lot more spacious with generous "desk" space for your laptop, drinks, phone, etc. Seat controls worked well and were fast/responsive. Massage function was lackluster. A little light from the galley leaked into this seat area. Note the first class bathroom on the same side as 1A was bigger than the bathroom on the 1J side (on business it's the opposite). Great seat.

There's also a mini bin directly overhead which I had to myself. Great recline too. Being in the center section means the middle seat can exit either way, so my sleep wasn't disturbed. Menus and hot towels to freshen up were distributed to the main cabin - a nice touch. Food wasn't terrible. As another reviewer mentioned, there definitely is some vent blowing cold air over this seat.

Have flown LH, OS, BA, UA and VS business class, and AA's seats on the 773 exceed all of them in terms of privacy, space and comfort. Service was perfectly adequate - not overwhelmingly friendly but efficient. Food was also quite good. PJs, slippers and a seat cover made for a good night's sleep on the 15-hr flight from LAX to SYD. IFE was OK - enough to entertain.

Flew a redeye from LAX to LHR in seat 32L. Upgraded to these seats so we wouldnt have to deal with a 3rd person in our row. Location is close to lav, but never had a line form near us. Theres a passageway across from the exit row so you have a place to stand and stretch out of the aisle. On flight home we upgraded to MCE and those seats were much more comfy. The add'l leg room in MCE makes a huge difference. We were in 18J and L on the flight from LHR to LAX and felt much less cramped.

These seats are worth the additional $157. Upon kiosk check in i was offered upgrade to business for $500. Wish i hadn't already purchased the MEC. However I will say the MEC seats on this aircraft are very worth the price due to space. Coach is pretty tight for a 6' person. MEC has PLENTY of space and the 3-3-3 makes for more comfort.

DFW-HKG-DFW. First in 1D, then 1J. 1D is a seat you should avoid at all costs. It is both close to the galley and right behind the door the captains (we had an extra 2, so 6 in total, it was nonstop movement) use to get up to their bunks. The galley in First tends to be super busy during the flight as FA's like to congregate up there and they don't care to be quiet. Also, the lights are super bright from the galley and there is no curtain to separate you from the galley. 1J much better on way back. Bottom line - FLY BUSINESS NOT FIRST. If you can snag row 3, either window, even row 4, you're much better than FIRST. The food is the same - the only difference is you get some PJ's, have a little more room but less privacy surprisingly. The micro cabin in Business rows 3-4 are far superior.

Sat in 3J LHR-LAX. Highly recommended. The forward business class mini-cabin feels very private. Much more so than ~11-row main business cabin behind the galley where I sat eastbound. With the two opposite aisle seats empty I had only the FAs walking by. Plus it's a short stroll to the large business restroom that I mistakenky didnt use going over. The seat, entertainment, and service were excellent as others have mentioned.

Please do not take this seat. As stated in previous reviews, this seat hasn't got rest position, but also has less legroom than 40A because they are aligned obliquely to the row 39, because of the conical shape of the plane in the back. This issue also applies to the seat 40J. I was at 40A and have much more legroom than regular coach seats precisely for that reason.

First class 1G has absolutely no overhead Storage assigned. Directly overhead is a fixed panel with no storage. And a small bin exists over the window seat but has equipment in it. Believe it or not overhead is rather limited in F/C because there are only a few seats. This seat was not thought out and is the worst F/C seat on this plane. I would chose B/C over this seat. Also note the front row don't allow you to have your personal items under the seat rest (weird thing with these planes) so again more stowage issues.

I am in flight right now and have a great seat. I'm AA Platinum, upgraded to MCE when I booked, but no aisles available, so I booked 18L. I don't like windows because I like to get up a lot, especially on a long flight. Just before the flight boarded, someone in 17H got upgraded to business and I grabbed it. I'm so glad I did, because the comments on SeatGuru made me think I had a great seat: "You can lean back with no one to bother, due to the bulkhead behind you". But as I look back at 18L, I'm so glad I moved. I would have been very cramped and the bulkhead actually seems to butt up against the back of the seat, so I don't know if it even reclines all the way. 17C, 17D, 17H, 17J, 18D and 18H are the best 6 aisle seats in MCE by far. The seats recline almost flat and the seat in front of you doesn't cramp you when it reclines. Row 19 middle has the bulkhead behind it just like the row 18 windows. Row 16 has the extra legroom but narrower due to armrest trays. I think I got one of the best six seats in MCE.... Good luck!

Over this seat is a very loud ventilation system, going on all during the flight. With the headphones on, it is completely fine. Without the headphones, it is headache-inducing. Otherwise the seat is nice, has 3 windows (but no view from 1) and the mini-cabin feeling is nice.

Flew AA100 JFK to LHR on JAN 6th.Loved this new AA aircraft.Very wide Business Class seat, huge amount of personal storage space, legroom incredible. I couldn't reach the end of the bed and I am 6 ft tall.This forward cabin of just two rows gives a much quieter ambiance.Galley and lavatories are behind you, but never heard any noise from them. Some people may prefer the larger second cabin as more visual space around you. Bose head-set, Fantastic movie selection, large tv screen, lots of very good food.Stand up self-service bar for mid-flight gourmet food snacks. 28J flight from LHR to JFK, it takes almost 8 houres. I am 6ft 5. There is not much room for jour legs, espcially not when the front chair is reclined. The AVOD are very good, it gives you the possibilities to listrn music, watch a lot of films or play a game. The stewards of AA are kindly and the food during the flihgt are ok. I have flown in 4J to/from HKG and LHR, and find it very private and not disturbed by any noise. The lavatory is right behind the mini-cabin, rows 3-4 and close to the set-up between meals if you feel peckish. Always comfortable as a seat and bed and plenty of space to store items near the windows, or the area below, plus a full, overhead bin above the seat. I would choose this seat consistently, even having experienced the larger/main Business Class cabin in 6J, 12D,G, 8A. No idea why anyone would choose First on the 77W when Business is a better, more private product.

I have flown the LAX-LHR-LAX route 4 times this year, and usually have been relatively satisfied. But yesterday was a pretty full flight, I'm 6-2, sitting in 24D, and person in front of me reclined immediately after takeoff, so it was an awful 10.5 hrs. Absolutely no room to move or eat, and my TV screen was hard to see at recline angle. I'll refuse to fly economy again on a crowded flight like this again.

The best biz seat across the Atlantic. Very similar to the US Air legacy airbus 330 biz. Large, comfortable, and offering plenty or privacy due to the angling away from the aisle toward the window. A HUGE improvement over the unreconfigured 777-200, so make sure to check the type of plane prior to booking you biz ticket.

31J. Given the lack of space at the rear, lots of people use this area to mill around and chat (FAs aren't in the area). Was stepped on a few times and given looks as I actually used the extra space I paid for to stretch out, rather than permit them stand 6 ft from me and talk. Given the traffic and ongoing talk show, light sleepers should not sit here. Positives- you can stand up, stretch out almost whenever and easily use the restroom. If I had to take the row again, I would choose A/L, extra room by the wall (and the middle arm rest if hog it like my seatmate). The exit door only slightly impacts leg room and you can easily get up, and less impacted by people going in and out of galley. Guessing it's only solid-yellow per no window.

Finally American got something right. The business class seats are better than or equal to a lot of First Class seats of most european carriers. These seats are what would considered as suites. The lie flat seats are comfortable. and would be even better that if they had pads. The suites are very roomy and seem to have all the modern conveniences to make your flight enjoyable.

First, despite its bulkhead position, there's not any extra legroom for 16D/E/H, compared to other premium economy rows on this aircraft. Worse, flight crew and passengers used this row to pass through between the left and right aisles throughout the flight, asking to step over us. So disappointed in Boeing's configuration for this aircraft. Could not speak with my travel partner for 8 hrs because it was difficult to see or hear them. 16A has great leg room but the exit door extends partly into your leg area. Tray table is too small to use for anything other than a drink cup. Meal tray is bigger than tray table making eating difficult. Good seat only for sleeping. Magazine cubby is good for storing a couple small carryon handhellds such as kid canceling headphones, glasses, phone and water bottle. If you want to do anything but sleep for 11 hours pick another seat.

I've flown in the main part of biz class and now the mini part of biz class and I much prefer the mini part (rows 3 & 4). there is very little foot traffic and even though the a/c is loud, the bose headphones work very well. the only downside to 4A was that the FAs use the space behind it to load and unload trays, etc. so there is a lot of slamming of doors and I felt it in my seat. not a huge deal on a day flight but I would avoid in on a red-eye.

I think 19-D/H are the best MCE aisle seats, unless you must have maximum legroom in which case 16-C/D/H/J may be worth it with the downsides that they have the swingup IFE arm that makes you look down & away at it which isn't the most comfortable. 19-D/H have a bulkhead behind, which means you can lean back guilt-free, and you can stretch your arms back around your seat etc. without interfering with anyone behind. One caveat: twice I've had this seat and it seems a special place for the generic ceiling outlets to blow cold air on until they decide to increase the cabin temperature above the usual initial freezing. One additional note: these IFE screens do NOT pivot, so when someone reclines in front of you with your screen attached, it's not the best angle. A very dumb design flaw.

While better than any regular non-MCE seat, this is not a good seat unless you must have maximum legroom and 16-C/D/H/J aren't available. All the usual comments about exit window being cold are true, and in addition to no window at all there is a plastic magazine holder where the window should be, making it even more uncomfortable. The IFE screen also comes up on a separate arm, meaning you'll be looking down & away all the time, potentially uncomfortable on your neck. Getting out of the seat is also more difficult because of the door and your entertainment arm unless you put it away each time. And the bathroom light will spill over unless you're wearing eyeshades.

A near-perfect seat for my flight from DFW to LHR. A window seat with adequate leg room, two windows that are far back enough not to be subject to jet haze spoiling your view. International WiFi and an A/C outlet. The tray table did become an issue when the person in front reclined fully. I had been working on my laptop, which became difficult to do so after. The entertainment system is good, although the touchscreen suffers a considerable lag.

I recently flew from MIA to LHR on a night flight and it was a bad experience - the leg room is just not sufficient for someone above 1.80m (I am 1.92m and was not able to fit my legs without my knees pressing against the seat in front of me). And while the entertainment system is very responsive compared to older systems, the screen can't be tilted and the headphone plug is located under the screen and not in the arm wrest (which I find not ideal as I accidently unplugged the headphones at least 5 times). Overall, the experience was much less pleasent than on the US Airways (now also American) flight I took a few days earlier from LHR to CLT, which was a A330 with a slighty older entertainment system (still same movie selection) but with much more leg room.

All business class seats on this plane offer a good bit of room and privacy. There were numerous entertainment choices. The food was plentiful and petty good. Lots of self-help snacks during most of the flight. Contrary to what some others have said, I did not find this plane particularly noisy. The flight attendants were friendly and helpful. My wife (set 7A) had a very nice flight from LAX to LHR and hand nothing to complain about.

Sat in 5A as it was the only seat left. Avoid this seat for a few reasons - 1)The galley is definitely bothersome. You can hear everything and people tend to congregate there. 2) There IS a window in this seat, but only 1, not 2 like the other seats. 3) The wall in front of the seat (by your feet) is a solid wall all the way up to the ceiling, where the rest of the cabin is open above your head. May be a little 'closed in'

Seats 3D and 3G. Privacy is the great thing about this aircraft. The front mini-cabin offers small booth-like compartments that provide a quiet and private flight. The seats (3D/3G) are separated by a divider and if you do not want to see the passenger next to you, the door housing the Bose noise cancelling headphones can be left open, effectively cutting off the view of the adjacent passenger. Great attendant service and excellent food and wine.

Seating in AA's 777-300ER economy from HKG to DFW's 16 hour flight was ridiculous. AA managed to squeeze in one extra seat for each economy row, 3-4-3 hence 10 seats per row, comparing to JAL 777-300ER's 3-3-3, 9 seats per row in economy. This is AA's American Way to appreciate economy customers! AA even had to redesign the serving cart to make it narrower to push through the narrow aisle. The cart looked so narrow that it could get tipped over very easy! People who were walking through the aisle will bump into the shoulder of passengers who were seating on the aisle seats. I can understand now why some people called these poor economy passengers on AA's 777-300ER looked like sardines! AA's 777-300ER has 220 standard seats whereas JAL's 777-300ER has 156! Now AA applied the same magic on its new 787-800 squeezing one extra seat in for each economy row, 3-3-3 hence 9 seats per row, comparing to JAL 787-800's 2-4-2, 8 seats per row in economy. Shame on American Airlines!

We flew this plane DFW to LHR, both ways. Best extra money spent ever!! It was our first overseas flight and I slept like a baby on the way over. The amount of space in main cabin extra is insane compared to economy. Although one word of advice, no matter how bad you have to use the toilet don't cross in front of seats 16DEH!! Both flights, different people, and I got yelled at for interrupting their "paid space". I wouldn't have done that had the line on my side of the aircraft not been 3 people deep and I was in serious need of the toilet. Also their little space is a good 3 feet wide, so I didn't think I'd be a huge disruption to their space, just a word of caution. Just grin and bear it, or plan your bathroom breaks better than I did. Otherwise main cabin extra really is the place to sit if you can!

Just flew London-LAX in Main Cabin Extra on this 777 on May 16. Have flow over the Atlantic many times in coach and this was the best experience ever in terms of coach class seat comfort. I am 6'3" and 260lbs. I stretched out fully with the added leg space and extra recline. Don't hesitate to pay the few extra dollars for this seat if your company won't pay for business class!

I flew DFW to HKG round trip in 19H and then 19D on the way back. I had 16C on the way back but after my flight to HKG in 19H, I liked this row and aisle seat that I requested it again on the flight back and was able to change to this seat. MCE Seat with plenty of legroom and nobody behind you so you can fully recline without feeling bad. Also being in the middle section, the person in the middle seat has two options of who to wake up to get out of the row. Infotainment had a great selection of movies as well. This 16 hour flight was more comfortable and enjoyable than my 3 hour flight from NYC - DFW.

These seats suffer from a terrible design flaw of the 777 aircraft. The galley has chillers with fans that run at high RPM most of the time, increasing the noise level in this seemingly private cabin section tremendously. Sure, the brilliant noise cancelling headphones help to bring it down but I personally don't want to be wearing headphones for the duration of the full flight and therefore prefer rows 5 and up.

Great comfortable business seat in a couple of rows between First and the Galley. The whole business cabin is basically the same layout, and is ideal for people travelling alone. As a couple, we were a long way apart, and the IFE box sits between us. So although i travelled with my wife, I hardly saw her between boarding and disembarkation. That said, 3d&g are very good seats.

The noise inside this aircraft carries quite far. For example, from 2J I could hear every time the business class toilet door was opened and closed, which made for a rather restless night. I will remember next time to use the ear plugs they give out. Also, I am not a fan of the eye covers - just can't sleep with them - but the light from the galley was VERY ANNOYING! Crew was fantastic and the dinner was pretty good, not great. Overall, I must say that I will probably stick to business in the future, First Class was just not all that much better.

I have flown this aircraft for four times (AAL950/951) on rows 32 and 41. In general this is a good aircraft (it is a new aircraft) with enough legroom for a medium size person like me (5'7"), specially on those rows where you have two seats per row, which makes a couple travel more comfortable. One thing it distinguishes from others is the onboard international wifi, which makes the 10hrs flight goes by quite smoothly. Service is like any other american company, not the nicest and friendly staff ever, but they get the job done. Food is generally good, although TAM has a better selection.

While you have unlimited legroom there are drawbacks to this row of seats. There is no place to store personal items in flight. The armrest-stored tray table is "wobbley", is half the width of the seatback model and lacks enough surface area for even the meal tray. Unless super-size legroom is your main concern, this would be the only reason I'd recommend this seat.

It is very noisy so impossible to get rest without using the BOSE noise cancelling headphones (which are excellent). 3G is a much better seat as you are in the quiet area with only 8 seats but farther away from the galley and it makes a HUGE difference! The 77W is an awesome plane though!

This seat is no better for the extra than an economy class seat on Cathay Pacific....if you must take american, this is the way to go....the people in main economy were like sardines in a can, without the oil....its disgraceful how the pitch is so tight...and the seat so narrow....the food is not that great either in either class....19 d would have been ideal if the man in 19e had not been sick and vomiting the entire 15 hrs...the plane was full and there was no where else to go....pay the extra on this long flight or book Cathay. 15 hrs is a long time...

LHR > JFK November 2014. Fantastic seat: this area of Business class is away from the main lot so feels cosier. Economy comfort, or premium economy, whatever they call it on American is well worth the $65 for the 16-17 hour flight from DFW-HKG. I have taken it twice now and the leg room is more than adequate, slightly more recline in the seat, and a general feeling of more comfort. I haven't sat in the back yet but I walked around and made some seat notes for future flights, it looks quite cramped.

This really is worth paying the extra for - it was about £82 each, and you have so much more legroom and space. The screens are fantastic and you have a good range of movies music etc. Food was ok, but on a nearly 8 hr flight from LHR to JFK they served within half an hour of takeoff and then 6 hours later shortly before landing so there was a big gap where we saw no stewardesses. This cabin doesn't seem to have a staff member so bear that in mind. Very comfortable seat and after flying home in standard BA we wish we had booked AA again.

Firstly I love the 700-300er. American's seating configuration is the best across the Atlantic, far better than the cramped BA ying-yang, face your neighbor layout. DFW-LHR I was in 7J. Great seat, with two windows. LHR-DFW I was in 11J. No window although I did have a partial view from the window in 10J. The service on board was very good both ways. The crews were great and the flight deck crew got us there and back safely and comfortable A+ for that. The food was plentiful, tasty with a good choice of dishes. The walk up kitchen was excellent and well stocked throughout the flights. All in all I would highly recommend AA over BA on this route. One note: rumor has it that AA will be using the 777-200 series on this route and fitting them with the ridiculous ying-yang seating. BIG mistake AA!!!! Don't do it!!

.Overhead storage was surprisingly small. I have a small roller bag and it took up the whole overhead bin. It was a good location. I was able to use my neck pillow and the airline pillow to get a bit comfortable and I am short, so I stuck my feet in the seatback pocket and was able to get a bit of sleep (with medicinal help). The food is what one would expect from AA - BA is better. if you have to fly international in coach - MCE is worth any extra money for an aisle or window seat. Not so sure about a middle seat - because it is a middle seat.

I like this plane. I am 6'4". The legroom in the cheap seats was the best I've experienced in a long time. It was not spacious, but the seat in front of me never jammed into my legs, even when it was reclined (which it was for all but 30 minutes). Every control and plug has been moved into the seat back in front. There is not only a UK/Euro/US AC plug, but also a USB port. The video display is large, and the movie choice is HUGE, including over 250 movies from almost SEVENTY years, right up to recent full feature releases. I'm going to try to get all of my future trans-Atlantic flights on this plane.

This seat has all the medical equipment (mainly 10 or so oxygen cylinders) in the overhead compartment. Therefore there is no space to put your carry on or even small bag. These need to be stowed either side or across the aisle. Probably not a good thing on a very busy flight.

The only positive thing about this seat is not having another seat in front of you. However, your leg space is constantly challenged by anyone walking through the aisle as it is part of the regular path. You won't have a seat pocket and you can't keep your bag with you which means every time you need something, you need to deal with the stowage. This seat is NOT worth the premium.

I flew from DFW-HKG in MCE seat 17L after being moved from 19E. Due to a weather we had to fly over Russia which made the total flight time just over 17hours. I must say this seat was just fine for the long trip but I was also lucky not to have the middle seat taken. It is clear to me that the best seats are on the aisle and I would NOT take a middle seat in this section if there are aisle in the back. The extra leg room is great but the extra inch in seat width is not that noticeable. However, I did take a walk to those back seats and it did look cramped.

Flew DFW-LHR. Agree with other comments about the positive points of these seats. People - both pax and crew! - using the row as a corridor between the two aisles was only a problem during boarding. Further negative point is that fold-out table is *very* small - smaller than my small laptop and impossible to have a drink on the table at the same time. Fairly cool part of aircraft (although not as cold as 16L) - I wore a fleece throughout the flight and my feet, in flight over-socks, were cold.

I flew for 16 hours from Hong Kong to Dallas/Ft. Worth. I thought I was going to be in misery being 6'2", but to my surprise, this was the best money spent!! The seat in front of me NEVER came close to touching my knees! I could stretch out and relax on the long flight. I was able to recline all the way back and not hit the bulkhead behind me. The AVOD system was great to watch movies at an instant and not having to wait for them. The flight crew was great as well to ensure we were comfortable on the long flight.

Flew LHR to DFW on 27Sep14. The only MCE front-row seat I could get was 16E, in the middle of the bulkhead row. There was plenty of leg-room (although I have short legs) and I could get out to the aisle without disturbing the sleeping passenger either side. I was wary given previous comments about other pax using this row as a corridor to cross to/from toilets. During boarding there was some irritating traffic through the row, but no problem after take-off. I found I preferred the middle part of row 16 rather than the side/exit rows - warmer and less draughty, and no sense of sleeping in a barn (as at 16C for instance). As the notes say the tables are small and I managed to tip my drink of water over myself!

Utterly cramped. We like to sit together and don't want anyone between us so we chose the 2 wide at the back. We flew from London to LAX and couldn't move. Thank goodness the people in front of us never reclined. For reference, my husband is 6' and had to sit with his legs spread for the whole flight. I'm 5'6" and my knees were right up against the seat in front of me. When i got up to go to the restroom my legs were numb. I used to be able to slide by and over him to leave my seat. Not any more. Didn't think it was possible to reduce the room any further but AA found a way! Just sit back, close your eyes, grit your teeth, and bear the nightmare that this seating configuration has become IF you really need to fly.

I recently flew from London to Dallas on this plane. For those of you who don't have the option of flying first or business class, go for the main cabin extra. The increase in price was minimal to economy and the amount of legroom was incredible. There are no bad seats in this section. Even though the first row of seats is near the lavatory, this was not an issue for the people seated there. The extra legroom is worth the minor inconvenience with the bathrooms.This plane is beautiful and the touch screen media system is top notch.

This is the second time I have flown Flt. 136 LAX to London, and I chose to fly through LAX specifically to fly on this plane in Business. It is the most comfortable, technology-accessible, and private Business Class seat to London. Each passenger has a "pod-like" seat equipped with a large screen TV, headset (had to ask for an adapter because the plug on the aircraft has been changed to a UK 3-prong plug, and I was using my personal earphones), mirror, wide seat that makes a very comfortable bed, and more. Similar seat on return trip. I really don't know why anyone would buy a first class seat when Business is so terrific on this plane.

I flew on flight 50 on May 16th and it was a nightmare. I'm 6'4" and the 31 inch seat pitch leaves no room when the seat in front is not reclined. The passenger in front of me tried to recline his seat painfully mashing my knees in the process. Thankfully, the fellow in front of me was kind enough not to recline for almost all of the 8 hour flight. One of my travel partners is a male that is normal build and 6 feet tall. He found the seating ridiculously uncomfortable. He is an older gentleman who wears reading glasses. When the seat in from of him was reclined, the entertainment screen on the back of the seat was so close to his face that he could not clearly see the screen! I fly American a lot (once to twice a week round trips) but I will not fly trans-Atlantic with them until something is done about the seating conditions in coach.

I received an unexpected upgrade to this seat and was delighted with the lie-flat bed it turned into. However, I had a couple of minor niggles: The Bose headset looked as though it should plug in to the three-pin socket on the outside of the cabinet containing slippers and toliet bag. After plugging it in the headset did not work, and then I discovered with the help of the attendant that it actually plugs in to the socket inside the cabinet which you locate by looking into the mirror on the cabinet door! Why AA came up with this design is a mystery to me. The cabinet door refused to close due to difficulties with the closing device. Jamming a folded-up piece of paper in between door and cabinet worked, but this is a small problem that should have been fixed since I was advised it was not uncommon. Overall though these new BC seats are a big improvement on the old 777-200 BC seats, so kudos to AA for that.

I'm 6ft, 240 lbs. The seat was tight at the hips, my shoulder was out in the aisle because the seat is so narrow. The woman in front of me reclined as far back as she could. My tray table pressed into my stomach, the carts hit my arm every time, people could not walk down the aisle as it was too narrow, and when the woman to my right had to get out, she struggled desperately, as the armrests don't raise, and there just isn't enough space for even a small person to get out when the seat in front is reclined. Food was okay, stews were great, but never again on an AA 77W - it's a sardine can attached to the Business and First cabins where people pay 5 to 9 times more for a seat. I feel I was robbed of my $1800 for a round trip ($50 for the second bag each way, and $107 for a "preferred seat" on the way back that was no better at all.

I have never been so cramped on an international flight in my life. There is no way to get comfortable in the seat due to lack of space. The isles are so narrow, that the stewards could barely get the cart through. When people walked in the isle, if they didn't turn sideways, they were bumping off the shoulders of the passengers. I thought my left shoulder would be bruised by the time I got off the flight. If you have a window seat, you better be a gymnast to get in and out of your seat if the person in front of you is reclined. The fact that the armrests do not lift up just makes it that much worse. Very disappointed with American and will try to avoid them on all future flights. What a disappointment and lousy way to end an otherwise nice vacation.

LAX-LHR. The seat itself was comfortable, the IFE was good quality with a wide choice of movies and the Bose noise cancelling headphones worked well which was just as well because this has to be the noisiest plane I have ever flown on. The flight crew have to shout to chat and any PA announcements cannot be heard unless you are wearing the headphones. Flew LHR to DFW in 18D. At 6'2", 225 lbs - I can fill an airline seat. Despite that, I found this flight/seat to be very comfortable. Has good pitch and seat width. No seat sores to report even after a 9.5 hour flight. This seat is right over the wing so no real view. Would rather have had 19D or F for that reason only. With bulkhead behind, pretty quiet seat and no issue leaning back. Good leg space in front even with forward seat in recline. IFE is fantastic with more content than you can possibly consume over multiple flights. Have flown business on this same plane on prior occasions. While I certainly appreciate the luxuries of business class, this is not a bad option if its otherwise unavailable. If travelling on my dime, would rather sit here than spend the money or miles for a business upgrade. Only complaint is the food. I've had decent meals on AA before when flying first both domestically and internationally. Not sure why coach has to be such a massive step down in eatability.

Great seat comfort, plenty of length. Mini Cabin feels cramped and claustrophobic compared to 772. Only downside was picture quality of movies on new HD IFE screen. Tried my PVR using RCA's. Took a while as there is a tiny switch you have to toggle between RCA and Iphone connectors. Picture quality was terrible. Went back to using my laptop. AA need to upgrade to the USB Movie software player that is available for these units to gain maximum value. That way you can play your content for movies off a stick as you can now for pictures or music.

AA has managed to squeeze an additional economy seat across its 773 fleet, and has reduced legroom, too. It was like sitting in a E-145 from JFK to LHR. Seating was so tight that most pax did not recline their seats for fear of bumping their neighbor's knees. Lady sitting in front of my wife reclined fully. Seat back was only inches from her face ( and she's fairly petite). Although the new entertainment system is the best of any airline, it couldn't make up for the cramped economy seats. Even the flight attendants were complaining of the aisle width when hauling carts through. Premium economy is sized like Delta's standard trans-con economy. Sorry AA. We tried.

DFW-GRU & back in MCE. I preferred 18C to 16C. 18C did not have the person behind applying an annoying tap-tap-tap to their touchscreen, and it had very sufficient leg-room for my 5'10" frame (though I do agree with the earlier comment regarding the raised lip at the front of the seat being somewhat uncomfortable - 18C was worse than 16C in this regard). 18C also features a bit more storage under the seat itself (good place to tuck the pillow/blanket or a laptop). The entertainment system is very good; I found the seatback system preferable to the one on the swing-up arm of 16C, mainly because of the viewing angle and access during take-off/landing (and 16Cs gets bumped by passersby). However, the seatback versions screen does not tilt to improve the viewing angle when the person ahead of you leans his/her seat back. I'll definitely do my best to stick with MCE on this airplane. Im not eager to try the 10-wide Main Cabin. Overall, I think MCE is a notable improvement over even exit row seating in AAs 2-5-2 777-200s.

I flew LAX-LHR and was very satisfied with the service provided by the flight attendants for this seat. I felt that in this instance, that the proximity to the galley was a positive benefit, as I received lots of personal attention. Also, the nearness of the lavatory was not an issue at all. The aisle in the economy section is so narrow it is impossible for anyone to walk in it without disturbing the passengers with aisle seats. But that isn't really a problem because the seats are so narrow and the pitch so short that sleep is impossible as well. I'll never fly on an American Airlines aircraft again - this or any other! Their blatant disregard for the economy passenger in favor of the high value babies in premium class says all I need to know about their interest in my business.Even with the extra price charged in First, business and main cabin extra, the coach cabin still ensures the profit and therefore the viability of this flight.

The 32J is a nicer seat because aisle is wider next to it, but it is still a very narrow and small seat. American charged extra for this as a "premium" seat. The aisles on this new 777 are extremely narrow. Apparently, they added 100 new economy-class seats to this model. I always get up to walk and I found the aisles so narrow that I could not walk without hitting people. I could only really walk back and forth in the galley area next to the seat. The new entertainment system is very nice, but small compensation when my knees were solidly against the seat in front (I am 6'4"). No chance to use the power plug because of the lack of space. I will not fly on these 777 planes again unless I can at least get Main Cabin Extra (and there are very few of those seats).

Travelers should be aware that the Business Class bulkhead window seats only have 1 window in the "pod." The other window seats in Business class have 2 windows within the "pod."

If you travel with a companion pick the center seats in First Class because the privacy panel lowers and you can swing both seats toward each other and dine across a centered table. Also perfect for card games or to work on business with a co worker. Wifi is available plus a huge selection of video and audio. After cocktails & dinner you can change into the PJ's provided and press the bed button and the seat combines with the second "visitor" seat in your unit to form a flat bed. The 8 to 10 hour flight seems very short if you are asleep!

****WARNING******The new config in coach for American A/L 777's are a disaster for flyers over 6' tall. You might want to rethink flying coach on 777 on American overseas if you are over 6' tall. These new coach seats are the most uncomfortable seats flying on a US flagged air carrier today, as American Airlines added a 10th seat across in their 777's in coach and took another inch or two off the legroom wedging passengers in even more. In addition, the curvature of the cabin takes more shoulder room off the window seats adding to neck strain as you have to tilt your shoulders to fit. With an international flight of 10+ hours you will be that much more miserable than normal. Not only will I not fly again on these planes, these seats probably should be legislated against.

Seat 12A= There are three windows at this seat with good views through 2 of them. There is considerable engine noise at this seat at start up. Great seat otherwise.

Although I agree that the angled configuration of the business class seats does put the one arm rest at an odd location and the space can feel a bit tight, the angled and enclosed configuration also gives this very tall, 6'4" guy the space to bend my knees while sleeping -- without the risk of them being smacked by a cart in the aisle or bothering the person in the adjacent seat. I've flown this plane in both MCE and business and will take either over the old 777-200's. The seats are far more comfortable and the entertainment system is better. My only complaint is in sympathy for the people in the regular main cabin -- AA should be ashamed for going 10 across with a 31" seat pitch!

The air/con is pretty loud on the ground, but fades away with the typical airflow in flight. The Bose sound-canceling headsets do a good job of eliminating that noise though. Take note that the Bose headsets provided have a special 3-pin plug that only powers the noise-cancelling feature when its plugged into the aircraft receptacle, so they don't work in any of your typical personal devices (laptop, iPad, etc). I ended up using my own in-ear buds, and then putting the provided Bose around-the-ear headset on. Worked great.

The available space in business class is marginally bigger for the window seats, due to an additional space between the seat and the window. In the interior aisle seats this does not exist due to the fact this space is occupied by the adjacent seat. The new seat feels a "little" more claustrophobic, but is a small price to pay for a fully flat bed. That said I was very disappointed in the food on offer.

I agree with the comments regarding the business class "mini-cabin" of rows 3 and 4. The overhead A/C unit is very loud, however, this is more noticeable on the ground. Once airborne the noise tends to blend in with the outside air noise. The location of the galley is also very disturbing, especially if on an overnight flight and you wish to sleep. There is a lot of activity going on there, and it's hard to miss the noise even with earplugs or the Bose headphones. That being said, the seats in Business are an unbelievable improvement over their previous product. Also note that the Business Class restrooms near the front of the cabin (by the galley/walk-up bar) are much nicer than the Business Class restrooms at the rear of the cabin. The ones in the rear are standard economy style, even though they are clearly part of the Business Class cabin.

The new configuration is torture even in the priority seats. AA has managed to add an extra seat making them unbearably tight. Im a small person and couldn't even read a magazine without disturbing my row mates. A couple of positives. Better seat pitch in the premium coach. It does offer a power and usb port but theres really no way to use a laptop. Even my ipad was stretching the space limitations. Seat 16c should be marked as yellow. Each time someone walked past they would bump the monitor, knocking out of viewing angle. Overall, an awful experience

I made the 10 hour flight from DFW to Sao Paulo, Brazil in main cabin extra seat 17J. I'm just under 6'3" and was able to sleep a bit, but the main cabin extra still felt claustrophobic and cramped. Granted it surely must have been better than economy. The overhead bin situation didn't help. They were worst I've ever seen on an airplane - seemed smaller and were awkward to open and close even for someone as tall as me. The bathrooms and mood lighting were nice though

Legroom and entertainment system were good. However i disliked this seat (and the plane) intensely. The tray table is placed very low, on top of your knees, making it difficult to eat and impossible to move your legs while it is down. Leg discomfort is increased by a curve on the edge of the seat cushion that compresses the back of the thighs (i am a 5ft 10in woman who weighs 160 lbs, I am not huge). Has AA not heard of DVT? When i leaned the seat back, there was no lumbar support and i developed a horrible twist in my back. I am a Gold member and usually sit in 31B on the old 777 plane. That is a MUCH better seat.

beautiful plane!.. although row 3 & 4 in business appear to be "cozy" on the seat map, skip it and go back to the main part of the business class cabin.. the noise from the galley area is endless- for 7 full hours-- constant slamming of cabinets, clanging of dishes and crew chat.. bathrooms are hugely improved.. snak bar area is a huge win.. international wi-fi service is awesome.. overhead bin storage is very spacious-- can take oversized bags easily.. armrests are awkward-- due to angled seat configuration, one is much further away than the other.. awesome privacy within/between seats..

Rows 3 & 4 are in a separate cabin which feels a bit more cozy. 3A & J only have 1 window each whereas most other seats in Business Class on this new 777-300ER have 2. Not a big deal however, there is an A/C unit in the ceiling above this section that is very loud. Also, the Business Class galley being just aft of row 4, it can be a bit noisy especially if you have a crew who enjoys slamming cart and cabinet doors. I've flown in the regular Business Class cabin and would highly recommend it over rows 3 & 4.

Entertainment system was great. Lots of choices for movies and TV. Seat was narrower than the other 777. Tray table has to be carefully pushed in before folding up to latch. It was always a problem. Interesting lighting / different colors used during flight. Bathrooms seem roomier and I could stand up without a problem. I am 6 ft. 1 in.
