Overview

This Boeing 777-300ER (773) V2 seats 244 passengers and is primarily used on International routes. This environmentally friendly aircraft is 20% more fuel efficient than the 747-400, and produces less noise and exhaust.

This version of the Boeing 777-300ER features the new JAL Sky Wider Economy Class. The seats have been redesigned to be slimmer, providing about 3.9 in (10 cm) of extra legroom and 0.8 in (2 cm) of extra seat width.

Japan Airlines now offers passengers flying in the First Class Suites a choice in which mattress they use for sleeping. The First Class Suites are equipped with the "airweave" mattress and pillow, which has a soft side, and another more firm side to be more in tune with flyer preferences. This product feature will be available on flights from Japan to London, LA, and New York.

Having flown Cathay HKG-JFK in 1st and now JAL NRT-ORD in 1st, I've found a few differences. Service in both is impeccable although I do prefer the Japanese sense. The Salon Champaign in JAL was superior to the Krug on CX. The food was excellent on both as was the service. There are 8 seats in JAL and 6 in CX. The seats are a bit wider on CX and my wife and I could sit together and watch movies. Great! Alone on JAL it was not an issue. I read a review completely condemning the food, service, equipment and can only assume that the flyer...I can assume nothing as he just needs his own plane. I will prob take JAL HND-JFK this next summer. Ah! The lounges....yes....the CX 1st class lounge in Hong Kong is not to be missed.

Row 5 on this aircraft is great as you are in your own little cabin of 7 people and the crew always keep this part darker than the main business class section, so it helps when trying to get some sleep

Flew 5E SFO-HND. I would avoid the middle seats. They are extremely narrow, confined, and awkward. There is literally zero storage space to the sides, and nowhere to rest your arms. I would also avoid any seat in the mini-cabin except possibly the windows due to galley noise. Between feeling trapped in the seat and the very warm cabin, this was not a pleasant flight. Service was okay, food was excellent.

JAL flight 10 on 7-23-19. Phenomenal experience. Seat was extremely comfortable and wide. Great to lounge and as a bed. My wife was in 1G and our son was in 1A. His seat and IFE were not working properly. 2A was open so the flight attendants moved him without us even asking. Food was restaurant quality (having just spent 2 weeks in Japan). Drank an entire bottle of 2003 Salon and most of a bottle of Cristal on the 12.5 hour flight. Beef curry was excellent as a snack. Had the Japanese meal for lunch and the western options for breakfast before landing. Service was impeccable. Best flight ever for us. Used AA points for award travel.

I was in 47G, a standard economy aisle seat in the rear-most section of the plane. I thought this was an awesome economy class product. Generous seat pitch and recline. Legroom is worthy of "economy plus" seating on a US domestic airline and 3-3-3 seating which means no one feels hemmed in. Food and beverage service were topnotch compared to other airlines' economy class, as was the IEF. JAL is the easy choice for international flights.

I flew from Chicago to Tokyo on this plane in seat 56A and sat in 56K on the return. Both seats were good. I had zero issues with the recline, seemed to be a full economy recline. The leg room is GREAT with this seat. I was able to put my outside foot between the seat in front of me and the body of the plane. I used the area next to my seat and behind for convenient storage of my shoes and jacket. The only negative I have is that the seat cushion was very worn out. I used by pillow under my butt on the return and it was much better.

The seat is very convenient at the front of the cabin. However it is right behind the lav/galley so you do get a lot of traffic passing by and hear the toilet flushing. It's not quite yellow but be aware. For a daytime flight, I found it enjoyable. Being in a private space next to the window was very nice

Flew NY to Narita. 10E Middle seat - great if you like privacy and quiet. I Loved it. Privacy screens go up when seat belt sign goes off. It's like you're in your own mini cabin - you have direct access (all be it a narrow one) to the aisle and you don't tread over people. Slightly less storage than being on an aisle seat - but not having people walking past was worth that. Food was very good, and service "on demand" after the first meal is a great idea - . Comfortable seat with extra mattress provided. A much better business class than Qantas in my opinion. I'll fly it again and choose middle seat or window. Aisles are fine too - I just prefer more privacy. (All seats face forward by the way) The only average seats in business would be ones located near the toilets .

I flew this Japan Airlines Boeing 777-300ER configuration from LAX to Narita airport. Overall I was very satisfied with this economy class seat. Seat width and pitch are generous and in flight service was excellent. The seats can be a little on the hard side, but do have decent back support. This cabin layout makes long haul flying in economy a little more bearable compared to other airlines out there with 10 abreast seating on their 777s. The only potential issue with this seat is that it is close to the row with passengers flying with babies.

I am incredibly experienced world traveller and I took the chance on flying JAL back to London, over BA. I was incredibly disappointed and would not recommend this airline if you can avoid it. To begin with the food was inedible and I am very serious about this. For a 14 hour flight I basically ate rice, bread and chocolate. If you have to take this flight, bring your own food with you. In addition, be aware that the food options are extremely limited at Handeda so you will have to bring food with your from outside the airport.Yes they brag about their mattress choices, but it is so thin it does not matter. The mattress pads on Cathay are just as good. The flight attendants spoke nearly no English, and were incredibly slow with everything that they did. The entertainment system was abysmal. There were only a handful of movies to choose from and no TV shows from the past 5 years. It was also incredibly hard to navigate as the technology was old. The suite itself was pretty old and run-down. I will never fly JAL again if I have the choice.

I was booked in seat 24C but I moved to 56A in order to have a row to myself. The recline was great and I was never bothered by being near the restroom. This was by far the most comfortable seat I've ever had I coach. Japan Airlines is fantastic and I would fly anywhere in the world with them.

I agree that the First Class service is excellent and much better than BA or Cathay Pacific . My only complaint is that the middle seats seam rather dark and you cannot see anything out of the windows when seated.

Flew JL046 CDG-HND-CDG. By far the best economy I have travelled in. Excellent service, immense leg room. The 9 abreast seating puts other airlines to shame. Many airlines now forcing the horrific 10 abreast seating into Economy. Altho JAL may be slightly more expensive the cost is outweighed by the service, space and comfort. This I sthe benchmark for all other airlines.

For a coach seat, this aircraft is EXCELLENT. I flew this on JL61/LAX-NRT, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the generous amount of legroom. I'm 5'8" (173cm), medium build and the seat had enough legroom for me to cross my legs! On the way back, I flew JL60/KIX-LAX and boy oh boy, the 787 seat config was horrible and the legroom was something out of a standard US domestic flight, not an 11.5 hour flight.

This the best Economy seat I have ever sat in on a 777 (beaten only by some Middle-eastern and Asian A380 seats). Great leg room, great seat width. No equipment boxes stealing your foot space (despite an excellent IFE system with a huge movie choice and a large screen).

In the business class, the partition between seats blocks the outside view more than you think. If you think the outside vista is the important part of your flight, be sure to get window seat(A/K), although it tend to be occupied first.

The curtains surrounding the lavatory mean that it is not generally a problem. The seat does suffer the exit row problem of being a little narrower thsn other premium economy seats as the tray table and screen are stored in the armrest.

Based on previous comments, I picked the middle seat in the main business class cabin for a NRT-LAX flight. Overall, I was pleased. However, there are two things to keep in mind: 1) when both side partitions go up, you are somewhat boxed in (though you have easy exit to either side). not for the claustrophobic! 2) you do not have a little side nook or shelf near your shoulder area, unlike the aisle seats. the only place to stash stuff is on the shelves in front of you or above your feet, from which sliding off is easy. Would I pick this seat again? Probably, because I did sleep very well, until the flight attendant woke me up asking me if I wanted breakfast! Grrr.

Folks, I fly over 175K a year, and never flew Japan Air till now. I mirror all prior comments that you select a middle seat in the business class main area! You absolutely feel like you're in a cocoon with all the privacy you need. For a red eye over Pacific never felt better next morning on arrival. Also, the JAL service and food the best I've ever had inflight - beats anything Delta or AA can muster up with FAs gasping for breath and wheezing their way through service.

There is NO AC power under EVERY seat. In fact, there are only 2 AC power outlets under every 3 seats across Y cabin. They are to the left of the middle seat and to the left of the rightmost seat for every 3 seats(at least for my column), making passengers on the leftmost seat impossible to access those outlets as they are blocked by other passengers' leg. It was a huge inconvenience for someone wished to use laptop on a transpacific flight.

While 23C has unlimited legroom, anyone coming through the PE cabin will need to avoid your extended legs when walking through. On top of that, bulkhead seats have reduced width which is quite noticable.

Space in Premium Economy is huge and much appreciated. Sleeping, however, is difficult with these "slink down" seats - great that seat in front doesn't intrude into your space, but very uncomfortable for sleeping and the the plane was about -4F, so one airline blanket didn't even begin to keep me warm.

This seat 57D on the JAL B777-300ER is marked red but this really should be a yellow. First of all, the seat has normal recline as do all JAL economy seats - the comment about "may have limited recline" needs to be removed. The whole point of SeatGuru is to give accurate information about this kind of thing! I sat in this seat on JAL 711 from NRT to SYD recently (note - this route is now using a 787). I found it extremely comfortable - the wide aisle means fewer people bumping into you, and the stigma of it being the last row means more likelihood of middle seat 57E being open. I did not find that people queued nearby for the lavs - they mainly waited in the area near the exit behind the lav. The galley was far enough away that any noise from there was not noticeable. Like all JAL B777 economy seats, the pitch is generous and the amenities excellent (seatback power, full-flight IFE, lots of pockets and storage). The only drawbacks would be increased engine noise (especially when accelerating), as with any seat towards the rear of a 777, and the overhead compartment above was not available (minor point as the 777's compartments are commodious and I've never had a problem finding room nearby). Overall a good seat in my opinion and would certainly choose it again, especially as I have broad shoulders and really hate being bumped into - the wider than normal aisle at this point avoids this issue.

Recently was in 56H for Chicago to Narita flight. The seat reclines sufficiently and proximity to lavatory/galley wasn't an issue. In fact, it's a plus because you have easy access to get up and stretch in that area during the long flight. I would take same seat again.

I flew in a window and aisle on my recent trip between LAX-NRT and this is the roomiest, most comfortable premium economy seat I've experienced. The slide-forward design offers a lot of recline without imposing upon the space of the person behind. And when the seats are upright there is tons of legroom. The shell seatback offers a generous tray table, a handy storage pocket, USB power, and the ability to interact with the touch screen without shaking the seat of the person in front.

The leg room for economy is spacious as everyone says, but the seat is quite hard. A few hours into the long-haul flight I started using my pillow under my butt. Be aware that seats A & B (assuming the same is true for the opposite side of the plane--J&K) are splashed with light if the person in C turns on their reading light. This was truly annoying as the light literally shines right in your eyes and throws glare on your video screen. Come prepared with an eye mask if you plan to sit in one of these seats and sleep.

NRT-LAX Seat 7K This seat should be flagged as yellow. While every window seat is very private, people tend to queue up close to this front row for the lavatory and because the partition between 7K and 7H is not high enough, you can see these people and they can see you. Otherwise, the seat itself is quite wonderful. Three windows, huge monitor, the footwell is the width of the seat so very roomy. There is not much storage, though except a small table in front under the monitor and a ledge on the left side wide enough to hold a cell phone but not enough for a small bottle of water. I admit that there was some turbulence at the beginning of the flight but it took 2 solid hours after takeoff before I got my first drink. Food was good and service was impeccable. The cabin temperature was perfect until they turned off the light for people to sleep and then the cabin heated up. I was prepared for this after reading previous reviews and I brought a portable fan. Overall, an enjoyable experience, I would definitely fly with them again.

This seat is not as good as it looks, because it's at a bottleneck point between the more roomy premium economy (2 seats per aisle) and plain economy (3 seats per aisle)so when the staff are moving between these areas you will often get bumped or stepped on

This is the roomiest economy seat I have ever flown in.. Even when the person in front of you reclines, you're still able to eat meals on the tray table. I found the seat cushion a bit uncomfortable, but the back and headrests were very comfortable. As you would expect from JAL, the in-flight service was spectacular. The flight attendants use a tool to close windows of people who are sleeping, which helps you're trying to rest on the 14-hour flight from JFK. The inflight entertainment options were not fantastic -- I had a hard time finding more than one movie that I wanted to watch. There was an entertainment box under the seat in front of me, though it's smaller than many entertainment boxes.24A and B have continuguous leg space (no divider), so you should hope your seatmate contains their legs to their own space if you're in A or B.

Premium Economy seats are quite good. Legroom is extremely generous and more than ample for tall (I'm 6'2) people. However, I don't recommend row 17 unless your only requirement is leg room. There is no foot rest and the positioning of the seat is not comfortable with it. The video monitor is small (like what you'd get in regular economy) and the tray table is ridiculously small and too close to your body to eat comfortably. Also, this row has the childrens area in the middle seats. I regret thinking I would get a good seat by choosing row 17. I had a much more comfortable seat on the outbound flight. I would recommend getting in any seat other than this one, even though highly rated by Seatguru

If you must fly trans-Pacific in economy, fly this plane. The "Sky Wider" offering from JAL is terrific... much better than some of the "economy plus" offerings by other airlines. First, be aware that some airlines (e.g. American) are squeezing 10 seats across in economy on this aircraft. JAL has 9 across and the width is better than anything else that I have seen. The legroom is generous, and available in every seat in economy. Service puts many other airlines to shame. My only complaint is that they tend to keep the cabin a bit warm, but take off a layer or two and enjoy this terrific economy seat.

All seats in row 5 are in a separate cabin that is very private and quiet. Seats 5A, 5E and 5K are completely enclosed and offer maximum privacy. In my opinion, 5A and 5K are by far the best seats in Business Class

Best business class cabin layout I have seen! I find the architecture best described as mixture of cubicles and tetris - very Japanese! The space, the comfort, the privacy: it's phenomenal! Amazing service and great food are maybe a given for JAL - but I think they outdid themselves. Again. The setup looks a little awkward on pictures but feels fantastic in reality. Japan Airlines business class product on the 777-300ER is phenomenal. Took this from ORD - NRT. I had 10H (aisle), while my better half had 10K (window), and both seats were great and spacious. Any pictures you see do not do the seat and suite justice...it's big. Being 6'1", the fully lie flat bed was long enough for me (and comfortable!). The PTV was huge, seat controls easy to navigate, and service was nothing short of excellent and thoughtful throughout the entire flight. Highly recommend flying JAL, and taking advantage of this business class product.

I have flown long hauls in first and business on this configuration. Both are fantastic. First doesn't have the most ultra-modern mini-suite cabin, but the service... The service! In business, when I first saw the cabin as I boarded I thought it looked cramped and unpleasant, but as soon as I sat down, all was forgiven. You cannot go wrong in either cabin. Amazing.

I have flown JAL business class service four times. The seats are very comfortable and the service has always been outstanding. My only issue is the temperature of the cabin is always very warm. If you are at all sensitive to heat I suggest you change into shorts and a light t-shirt after takeoff. Aside form that JAL is one of my favorite airlines.

Overall, JAL has one of the best Premium Economy seats in the market. Good legroom, seats slide forward, so you can work or watch a movie without anyone reclining towards you. Attentive and friendly service, hot towels, printed menus, champagne, good food. Would fly again.

Suites are very spacious, and very private despite no closing door. Suite 1K - no issue with light or noise despite being close to the galley. There is heaps of storage space: multiple compartments, and under the ottoman. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and there is a choice of "soft" or "firm" mattress pads when having the bed made. Food service was a little limited, as this was a night flight and everyone wanted to maximize sleep time.

Possibly the best seat in Economy on this plane. Located in a small section where the AC is always cold (better than hot..), fully reclines, and has a lot of extra room due to the missing seat on the left. Bathrooms and galley can be noisy, but that kind of noise is usually accepted on a plane and does not bother me.

Last week flew this cabin HND-SFO. Similar to the space on Korean Air, combined with the food and service, this is easily the best value for money I've experienced in Transpacific economy class. JAL are hitting it out of the park with this cabin - the seats are well-designed with thoughtful pockets, cupholders, and a folding tray table. The MAGIC V system has an intuitive controller and best of all, despite all the power options, there is no legroom-killing box of any kind under the seat.

This is easily the best economy class product I have ever used. Legroom was pretty good (I'm 6'3"), on par with the typical economy plus of American carriers. The seat was also wider than any other economy class I have been in, it was also much better padded than the slimline seats so many airlines are installing. The food and service were good, not great but the personal space, seat comfort and IFE are excellent.

These seats are very comfortable and I had no problem for the 13 hour flight. However When I fly again I would pick a "window" seat as they are even more private and you could basically sleep with no one watching you or walking by. The window seats also have free access to the aisle without having to climb by somebody. My second choice would be row E as those are basically like little cabins, again with complete privacy. Row E might not be for those who get claustrophobic however.

I chose 7K (JFK-NRT) for its privacy behind the lavatory bulkhead. At first I was concerned about this choice because of potential lavatory noise, but there was absolutely no noise in flight and the bulkhead wall plus the JAL Suite seat gave me 100% privacy. I was on Premium Economy class of JAL's Sky Suite 7 from Paris to Tokyo. Instead of the seatback reclining, the seat moves forward to take reclining position. 42 inches pitch was big enough and I didn't feel the legroom narrow when I moved the seat forward. And has both legrest and footrest. Services are almost the same as the Economy Class, but extra choices for drinks and better headset (probably the same as Businsee Class) for the IFE.

Full-flat seat, 23 inches LCD screen and good entertainment programs, a lot of space for storage, good food and pleasant services. JFK --> NRT: JAL 005. B777-300ER - New JAL Sky Suite. Economy Class. Without a doubt, I must say this was one of the most pleasurable flight experiences I've had in a long time having flown so far (14 hrs straight) and in economy class. JAL has done something clever which is really assess the flying experience for All passengers, including those in coach which I'm afraid tends to be an afterthought--even if so--on other carriers, especially domestic ones. What's impressive about what JAL's done is design a standard economy seat with comfort and practicality foremost. With a pitch of 34", this has got to be one of the most generous legrooms in coach period. For comparison, that's just 1" shy of an Economy Plus/Comfort seat which costs extra on United/Delta. Great experience -- Keep up the good work.

The 777 SkySuite is the best business class product I have used. The length and width of the seat and suite are great; you'd need to be over 6'3" or 300 pounds before you'd begin to feel squeezed. The aisle access for window and center seats is a fairly tight little passage, but adequate. The HUGE LCD display is great for media consumption. With the screen(s) up, the window and center seats offer superb privacy and isolation; the aisle seats not as much.
