Overweight Baggage Fees
Weight Concept
The excess-baggage fees listed below apply to passengers who have a ticket bearing a Finnair flight number and who are travelling on a Finnair-operated scheduled flight within Finland, Europe, or Asia. In other cases, the excess-baggage fee per kg is 1.5% of the highest published fare of an economy class ticket, regardless of travel class (1% on flights to and from Australia and New Zealand). The fee for special baggage can be paid before check-in at the ticket office at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. At other airports passengers should proceed to check-in for further information.
- Flights within Finland; Stockholm, Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius, St.Petersburg: €5 per kg each way
- Flights within rest of Europe: €10 per kg each way
- Flights within Europe-Asia/Asia-Europe: €30 per kg each way
Piece Concept
On flights to the United States and Canada, the piece concept applies. The excess-baggage fee is $90 or $110, depending on the destination. The charge for one piece of baggage may be double or triple, depending on the weight and size of the bag.
Sports Equipment
Finnair charges different rates depending on the type of sports equipment and route. For a full list of which items are permitted and their rates, please visit Finnair's sports equipment information page.
Disclaimer: The information on this page is true and correct at the time of publication. Because airlines reserve the right to change policies at any time, see finnair.com for official and up-to-date baggage restrictions.
CPAP Devices:
Breathing devices such as CPAP are permitted on board, but airline approval is always required. Most CPAP machines require a medical inverter to be installed to function properly onboard. All aircraft types do not have an inverter facility, but we can check the availability approx. 72 hours before departure. The inverter can be requested for long-haul flights with no additional charge for the passenger. Power supply onboard cannot be guaranteed, so you must be able to get by even without your breathing device, if required. For battery-operated devices, please carry a sufficient back-up battery supply to cover a minimum of 150% of the planned flight (including transiting time). For the use of medical devices during your flight, please inform us well in advance by filling out this form latest 72 hours before departure.
