Founded in 1980 as Charter One, Spirit Airlines (NK) is a US low-cost carrier that is headquartered in Florida. As a budget airline, passengers must pay extra for things such as onboard food and beverages, pre-reserved seats, and both carry on and checked luggage. Spirit operates from bases at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood International Airport (FLL). The airline flies to more than 50 destinations in the United States, Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Its fleet of 75 aircraft – each of which is configured with both an Economy Class and "Big Front Seat" cabins – consists of Airbus A319-100, Airbus A320-200 and Airbus A321-200 planes.
