Overview

The Singapore Airlines Airbus A350-900ULR is used on one of the world’s longest commercial flight. The aircraft has a modified fuel system that increases the fuel capacity by 24,000 liters without requiring additional tanks. The aircraft is more sustainable than previous Airbus A350’s in their fleet and has an important 25% reduction in fuel burn emission. Singapore’s Airbus A350-900ULR includes aerodynamic performance improvements such as extended winglets. This aircraft has a maximum take-off weight of 280 tons.

Additionally, the special Ultra Long Range variety includes noticeable changes in the interior of the aircraft as well. The aircraft is configured with 67 Business Class seats and 94 Premium Economy Class seats to keep passengers in comfort on the long haul flights. Economy Class seating is not offered on this aricraft.

Sat in 41H from EWR to SIN and then in 41C on the return from SIN to EWR. I am a much larger than average person at 6'3" and 255 lbs. Much of this weight is due to weightlifting over the last 25 years (I wear a 48L coat and 18 36/37 shirt). I found it impossible to get any rest on the way over because literally everyone who went by me bumped or knocked into me. I tried every maneuver save for trying to sleep on my right side which was just not practical in a seat that doesn't recline and doesn't abut a wall. Given the dual lavs on the right side of the plane the foot traffic was significant the entire flight. Flying back the issue was less troubling because of the single lav was on that side of the plane. Overall, the seats themselves were the best you're going to get outside of biz class but if you're not of average height/weight, it still makes for a very long journey. Service was excellent HOWEVER there was no announcement of snacks on demand so I went a long time between meals not knowing I could just ring the flight attendant for a snack. A big miss in my eye. Would def fly this airline again on this route but would def also spring for exit row even over the solo seats so that you can truly stretch out over the long haul. If you are over 6'2" even with 38 inches of pitch you will be very challenged to be comfortable in even these oversized seats. Go biz class or exit row. You'll thank me later.

Upgraded to business for the flight home from SIN, and it was worth every penny. Flew out in 38H which was also a great seat, but the lie-flat bed makes a huge difference. Slept about 10 - 11 hours on the return flight, and the food was on-point. I felt like service was just as good as Premium Economy, and other than the free 100 mbs of wifi and upgraded meals, I really couldn't find a huge difference. The seat / bed really is worth it if you have trouble sleeping on these ultra long flights.

40C for the world's longest flight Newark to Singapore; picked this seat so no one would be sitting next to me. Comfortable and private. Top notch service, Singapore Airlines is number one for a reason. 18 hours wasn't as long as I thought it'd be in this seat.

All aisle seats are pretty good, I sat in 40G from LAX-Sing, fantastic service and comfort, for 17 hrs....From Sing-LAX, all i could get was 41E middle seat, not too bad but a little difficult to get out to the restroom. And food service was absent for 12 hrs or so after post takeoff meal, no biggie but I was hungry.....Entertainment was great

I flew on SQ21 / SQ22 from EWR to SIN and back a few weeks later, in seats 31A and 31K respectively. Both flights are inherently tough at 18-19 hours each way but I thought SQ's premium economy made for a pretty comfortable experience overall (if you can't shell out for biz). The extra legroom seats in 31A/C/H/K are well worth shelling out extra money for - you get essentially unlimited legroom and will never need to disturb your neighbor. The window is also unobstructed so you need not fear losing that by sitting in the front. Recline is pretty reasonable for a premium economy offering, and seat width is decent at 19". In the extra legroom seats, your monitor flips up from the center console and I actually found that preferable to having it on the back of someone's seat. The legrest/footrest was nice at times but could be a little awkward depending on how you've got the seat positioned...expect to have to play around with that at times throughout the flight. All in all, a nice seat with a great airline and I'd gladly fly the ULR again.

Seats 10A, 11D, 11F, 11K, 19A, 19D, 19F and 19K have two advantages that all other Business Class seats don't have: A wide bench in front in addition to the cubbyhole for one's legs when the bed is extended as well as a wider seat pitch. Proximity to the galley is *NEVER* an issue because unlike noisy crews in other airlines, SQ crew are trained to be very quiet (no loud conversations in the galley) *AND* there is a noise-deadening curtain they draw while in flight (being in seat 11K, I can attest that there is a huge difference between when the curtain is drawn and when it is not).

I was on the initial flight for the longest flight in the world. The seat is nice. Has a nice foot rest that comes out from under the seat and with it being a seat with the extra leg room, you can really stretch out. I do have two issues with this seat. The first is the power outlet. It is literally right by your knee. If you have any power plug that sticks out, it will jab right into your knee on the side. Quite possibly the worst location to place a power outlet. The second issue with this seat is it has NO storage. Nothing to the left or right or in front. So anything you take out like a book, headphones, etc will need to placed right in front of you. Overall a good seat to sit in for 19 hours. Enjoy
